    Kreston Smith founded Bartlett Music in 2002 while completing his degree in Music Education at the University of Memphis. Mr. Smith is the Director of Bands at Covington High and Crestview Middle School. He has taught tutored students of all ages since 1993 on school band instruments, guitar and piano.

    Naimin has taught all ages and levels for decades.  Instead of teaching piano mechanically, she strives to be sensitive to the student’s needs. She has taught, understood, developed and worked with special needs children for over a decade. A few students of hers have received scholarships from  various educational institutions with one receiving a full scholarship from Belmont University

    Roy Murdock

    Roy Murdock holds a Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis on Applied Bass and Information Technology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, a Master of Arts in Jazz and Studio Bass from the University of Memphis, and a Tennessee Teaching License completed at Union University. He has taught in Tennessee schools since 2006 and has been a private music instructor since 2002.

     

    He teaches and performs regularly with local Memphis bands playing in a variety of styles including Jazz, Rock, Funk, Latin and Blues. He has performed regularly at Little Rock and Memphis venues including The Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Murry’s Dinner Theatre, Theatre Memphis, Playhouse on the Square and Herral Theater. He has worked with artists such as Chris James, Vince DiMura, Tony Award recipient Debbie Gravett, and former Miss Teen America Cara Hayes.

    Beth Luscombe

    Viola, Violin

    Beth Luscombe is a member of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.  She is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music with a degree in viola performance.  She has performed and recorded for many well recognized commercial artists.  She also plays with the IRIS Orchestra, the Jackson Symphony (TN), the Eroica Orchestra, the Orpheum Theater Orchestra, and many area churches.  Prior to coming to Memphis, Beth was a member of the Orquesta Sinfonica del Estado de Mexico (asst. princ.), the Ohio Chamber Orchestra (asst. princ.), the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, and was active in the theater and studio work in Cleveland, Ohio.

    Greg Luscombe

    Post graduate work at Indiana University, North Texas State University, and the University of Memphis

     

    Greg Luscombe has served as the principal trombonist with the Memphis Symphony since 1989. Since August of 2008, Mr. Luscombe is also Professor of Low Brass at the University of Mississippi.  Mr. Luscombe has also performed and recorded with the Chicago Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the St. Louis Symphony and the Mexico City Philharmonic. He has also done a variety of commercial work including theatre engagements and recordings.  

     

    Mr. Luscombe's principal private teachers include Jay Friedman (principal trombone, Chicago Symphony), Mr. Per Brevig (Julliard School, former principal trombone of the "Met"), Mr Edward Zadrosny (University of Akron), Mr. Dee Stewart (Indiana University-former member of the Philadelphia Orchestra). Other private study includes work with Arnold Jacobs and Mr. Art Sares (former staff trombonist at the old NBC staff orchestra in Chicago) and Vern Kagarice at North Texas State University.

     

    ​Many of his former students have gone on to successful teaching and performance careers.

    Mary Love Cook

    Flute

    Mary Love Cook is a flautist of nearly 20 years and earned her Bachelors of Music at the University of Memphis under Bruce Erskine and Elise Blatchford. During her college years, she won the University of Memphis Concerto Competition as well as the Beethoven’s Club Young Artist Competition Senior Division. She also won a spot with the National Flute Association Collegiate Flute Choir. She has played with several ensembles in the midsouth area, including the Memphis Repertory Orchestra, Balmoral Chamber Orchestra, and the pit orchestra for Desoto Family Theatre. Currently, she teaches in the midsouth area as a private woodwind instructor and a band, choir, and flute choir director with The Shepherds Horn band and choir program.

    Roxanne Daws

    Violin, Viola, Cello

    Roxanne Murray Daws received her Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Memphis in 1989, Double Certification in Instrumental Music and Elementary Education in 1992 from the State of Tennessee, and Master of Music Degree in Viola Performance in May 2000 from The University of Alabama School of Music.

     

    She has maintained a large and highly successful private violin/viola studio in the Memphis Area since 1985. She has taught violin/viola for The Lausanne Conservatory since 2005, the Briarcrest Conservatory of Fine Arts since 1992, and for the Germantown Baptist Conservatory since 2007. She also taught for the Community Music School at the University of Memphis from 1986 – 2001 and was the Adjunct violin/viola Instructor at Union University in Jackson, TN from 2001-2005, where she taught String Methods as well as private Lessons.

     

    Mrs. Daws experience includes violin and viola instruction for Beginning to Advanced players, extensive quad-state performances, and years of clinical experience.  She plays viola (or violin) in “The String Quartet of the South” which performs frequently in the quad-state area. She is Principal Viola of the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra (formerly Tupelo Symphony Orchestra) and is also Principal Viola in the Delta Symphony (Jonesboro, Ar). She also played violin/viola in the Jackson (Tn) Symphony, for 32 years. Mrs. Daws has received numerous commendations from state and local pedagogues for excellence in education, including the “Outstanding Teacher Award” from the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts in 1995, 1997, 1998, and 2001. She is frequently called upon to be a Judge for “solo and Ensemble” & Large and Small ensemble competitions for the State of Tennessee, and is a regular clinician at area String Seminars and Clinics.  In the 1995-96 academic School year, she was the “Artist –in-Residence” at Overton High School of Performing Arts. She was also Guest Conductor of the All-City 8th and 9th Grade Orchestra in 1995.
